Explorer Scout Young Leaders

Explorer Scout Young Leaders (ESYLs) are Explorers that are offered the opportunity to return to a group and volunteer alongside adult leaders with one of their sections – this allows them to complete the volunteering requirements of their Duke of Edinburgh Award and other awards within Scouting. They’re a valuable asset to any leadership team and play an active role in the section, bringing a range of fresh ideas to the table and acting as positive role models for the young people they work alongside

This opportunity is also available to young adults from outside Scouting if they are working towards their Duke of Edinburgh, Queens Guide Award or have a need to do some volunteer work as part of a college course

The Explorer Scout Young Leaders Scheme requires all Young Leaders to do mandatory Safety and Safeguarding learning, but has 11 learning modules and 4 mssions to work through with their chosen section. Recognition of these achievements is provided along the way and upon completion of the scheme.
