8th Colchester Scout Group first met in September 1960 under the leadership of Len Cheek after his previous group, the 32nd Colchester had to close after its GSL, Rev. Cecil Parker, moved away from the area.
Their initial meetings were held in the parish hall in Greenstead Road then in St Anne’s in Compton Road before settling down in Parsons Heath School.
In the years that followed 8th Colchester moved meeting halls a number of times but in 2021 returned to St Anne’s Church which is working out well and they are planning to stay there for some time.
