1st Great Horkesley Scout Group has been running for many decades, albeit with a brief hiatus in the 2000s.
It operates out of the original Scout hut, situated behind the Old Village Hall in Great Horkesley, although a project is underway with the aim of moving into new premises in the village by 2028.
The group runs four sections across the range of age groups – Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts – and has close links to the Legacy (Monday) Explorer Scout Unit, which also meets in Great Horkesley.
Squirrels and Cubs meet on Wednesday evenings (5-6pm, and 6.30-8pm respectively); with Beavers and Scouts meeting on Thursdays (5.30-6.45pm and 7.30-9pm respectively).
Our members generally come from Great Horkesley and Boxted, and some more outlying villages.
